The funeral home was completely silent.

White lights on the ceiling illuminated a long conveyor belt that slowly moved toward a huge crematorium oven.

On the belt was a glass coffin.

And inside was Valeria.

She was eight months pregnant.

Her wrists were tied across her chest and her legs were secured to the bottom of the coffin with black straps. An empty oxygen mask rested next to her face.

She opened her eyes with difficulty.

For a few seconds, she didn't understand where she was.

Then she saw the flames at the end of the conveyor belt.

She felt the heat.

And she began to pound desperately on the glass lid.

"Help!"

"My baby is alive!"

Her cries barely penetrated the glass.

A few feet away, Teresa watched from the control panel.

Daniel's mother was dressed in black, as if she were attending a real funeral.

One hand rested on the conveyor belt's lever.

The other held a death certificate.

Valeria saw her name written at the top.
