She watched the news from a wall of monitors, seeing her own face plastered across every major network, labeled as a criminal mastermind.

She didn't cry. She sat in her high-backed leather chair, her gloved hands clasped, waiting. She had known this day would come; she had prepared for it, keeping a private exit strategy that involved a passport and a suitcase of diamonds. But as she stood to leave, she found the door locked from the outside.
