The Broadcast of Damnation: The Final Confession
Adrian stood in the center of the road, the gun trembling in his hand, his eyes wide with a manic, flickering light. He seemed to be vibrating, a man caught between the reality of his own actions and the crushing, impossible burden of the truth.
"I didn't mean for it to happen," he whispered, his voice rising in volume, a jagged, broken sound. "I just wanted to be... I wanted to be someone. I wanted the money, the status, the... the respect."
Suddenly, his phone, which he had pulled from his pocket, began to ring. It wasn't a call; it was a notification. The screen, illuminated by the cold, grey light of the fog, began to display a scrolling, relentless stream of files, documents, and video clips.
"What is that?" Adrian shouted, his voice cracking. "What is that!?"
"It's the truth, Adrian," Clara said, her voice echoing in the damp, heavy air. "It's everything. Every policy, every payout, every life you helped them liquidate. It’s all out there. It’s on the servers, it’s in the cloud, it’s being shared across every platform in the state."
Adrian’s face went pale, his eyes darting to the phone, which was now vibrating violently in his hand, the screen a kaleidoscope of flashing, incriminating data. He turned to look at the surrounding darkness, as if expecting the entire world to bear witness to his crimes.
"They’ll kill me," he breathed, his voice a terrified whisper. "They’ll come for me."

"They don't have to," Clara said, her voice soft, lethal. "You’ve already killed yourself, Adrian. There’s nowhere left to hide. There’s nowhere left to run."
As if on cue, the distant, pulsing sound of sirens began to bleed into the silence of the night, a rhythmic, desperate call that grew louder with every passing second. The fog, which had seemed so impenetrable, began to peel back, revealing the flashing red and blue lights of a dozen cruisers, their beams cutting through the mist like a vengeful, righteous tide. Adrian stood in the center of it all, a hollowed-out shell, his gun dropping to the wet asphalt with a final, metallic thud, his entire world collapsing around him in a cacophony of sound and light.
