Chapter 14 - THE FILE CALLED LESSON ONE
Investigators opened the recovered card inside a forensic laboratory.
I was not permitted to watch immediately.
The device belonged to evidence in an active investigation.
Months later, prosecutors allowed my attorney and me to view selected material relevant to Emily.
The first directory was titled:
LESSON ONE — E.
It contained videos from the backyard camera.
Several duplicated recordings already recovered from the attic.
One had never been seen.
Emily sat inside the cage at night.
Jason stood outside the frame.
“Why do you keep asking for Michael?”
“Because he’s my dad.”
“I’m your family now.”
