CHAPTER 4 – THE TRUTH THAT SET THEM FREE (Ending)

The police arrived just after sunrise.

Doña Esther remained perfectly composed as officers placed handcuffs on her wrists.

"You'll regret this," she told Alejandro.

He shook his head.

"No, Mother."

His voice was calm.

"I regret trusting you more than my wife."

Marcela broke down, confessing everything.

Their motive was simple.

Years earlier, Doña Esther had secretly altered Alejandro's father's will. If Alejandro had a legitimate heir, control of the Aranda fortune would permanently pass to his direct descendants.

She wanted the inheritance to remain under her control.

Valeria and her unborn son stood in the way.

For months, they had humiliated her, isolated her, and slowly poisoned her while making everyone believe she was mentally unstable.

The mysterious man seen leaving the property?

He wasn't a lover.

He was a private nurse hired by Valeria's childhood friend after noticing signs of abuse. He came only at night to treat her injuries in secret because Valeria feared no one inside the mansion could be trusted.

Weeks later, after emergency treatment, Valeria gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

Alejandro never left her side.

He sold the mansion that had held so many painful memories and established a foundation dedicated to protecting women suffering from domestic and family abuse.

One quiet afternoon, as they watched their son take his first steps in the garden of their new home, Alejandro gently took Valeria's hand.

"I'm sorry," he whispered.

"I should have believed you."

Valeria smiled through tears.

"The past cannot be changed."

She squeezed his hand.

"But we can choose what kind of family our son grows up in."

Alejandro looked at his wife and child, finally understanding that true wealth had never been measured by mansions, companies, or inheritance.

It was measured by trust.

And after losing almost everything, he had finally found it again.
