THE SILENT POWER / Chapter 2 / 4

Part 2: The Ghost Billionaire

Part 2: The Ghost Billionaire

The convoy stopped so abruptly that tires screeched against the pavement.

Every conversation died instantly.

The flashing cameras.

The laughter.

The mocking smiles.

Everything disappeared.

Twenty black vehicles now lined the front of the Grand Crescent Hotel.

The doors opened simultaneously.

Men and women in dark suits stepped out.

Not bodyguards.

Not politicians.

Not celebrities.

These were people who controlled things far more dangerous than public attention.

Banks.

Investment funds.

Sovereign wealth groups.

Technology giants.

The people who quietly decided where trillions of dollars flowed.

And every one of them looked frightened.

Ryan, the security guard, stared.

“What the hell is happening?”

Nobody answered.

Because nobody knew.

At least not yet.

Julian remained standing exactly where he was.

Hands in his pockets.

Calm.

Almost bored.

A silver-haired woman emerged from the lead vehicle.

The moment she appeared, several guests gasped.

Everyone recognized her.

Victoria Hale.

Chairwoman of Titan Capital.

Worth over forty billion dollars.

One of the most powerful investors on the planet.

She walked straight through the crowd.

Ignoring senators.

Ignoring CEOs.

Ignoring billionaires.

Heading toward only one person.

Julian.

The crowd watched in disbelief.

Then something impossible happened.

Victoria Hale stopped three feet in front of him.

And bowed her head.

Not deeply.

But enough.

Enough to send shockwaves through everyone watching.

Ryan’s face turned white.

A billionaire standing nearby nearly dropped his drink.

Nobody in the financial world had ever seen Victoria Hale bow to anyone.

Ever.

When she finally spoke, her voice trembled.

“We’ve been searching for you for ten years.”

The crowd erupted into whispers.

Julian sighed.

“I know.”

“You disappeared.”

“I know.”

“People thought you were dead.”

Julian smiled faintly.

“For a while, so did I.”

The answer made no sense.

Yet somehow it frightened Victoria.

And that frightened everyone else.

Ryan looked from one face to another.

Trying to understand.

Trying to figure out who this man really was.

Then a reporter shouted:

“Is he the founder?”

The entire crowd froze.

Victoria didn’t answer.

Julian didn’t answer.

But their silence said enough.

The whispers exploded.

“Oh my God.”

“It’s him.”

“It can’t be.”

“Nexus…”

“The founder…”

For ten years, nobody knew who had built Nexus.

The most influential financial network in the world.

No interviews.

No photos.

No public appearances.

Nothing.

The founder had vanished before the company became a global empire.

Some believed he never existed.

Others believed multiple governments were hiding his identity.

Now he was standing in front of them wearing faded jeans.

Ryan felt sick.

His hands began shaking.

Then he remembered grabbing Julian’s shoulder.

Threatening him.

Mocking him.

In front of everyone.

A cold wave of panic rushed through him.

But Julian wasn’t looking at him.

Julian was staring at the hotel.

At the enormous glass building behind them.

His expression had changed.

For the first time all night.

The calm was gone.

Something darker had appeared.

Something dangerous.

Victoria noticed.

“What’s wrong?”

Julian didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, he looked toward the ballroom windows on the thirty-second floor.

His eyes narrowed.

“There.”

Victoria followed his gaze.

“What?”

Julian spoke quietly.

Almost to himself.

“He’s here.”

The color vanished from Victoria’s face.

“No.”

Julian nodded.

“Yes.”

“That’s impossible.”

“Apparently not.”

The crowd exchanged confused looks.

Nobody understood.

Who was he talking about?

Then Julian finally turned toward Victoria.

“Tell me something.”

“What?”

“Who organized tonight’s summit?”

Victoria hesitated.

The hesitation was enough.

Julian already knew.

His jaw tightened.

A memory flashed through his mind.

Ten years earlier.

A private meeting.

Three signatures.

One betrayal.

A gunshot.

Dark water.

Silence.

And the man responsible.

The same man Julian had just seen inside the hotel.

The man who stole his company.

The man who tried to kill him.

Julian smiled.

Not happily.

Not kindly.

The smile of a man who had just found a ghost.

“So he’s still alive.”

Victoria swallowed hard.

The crowd grew silent again.

Because they could feel it.

Something had changed.

This wasn’t a reunion anymore.

This wasn’t about a missing billionaire.

This was about a war.

A war that had apparently started ten years ago.

And was about to begin again.

Suddenly every phone in the crowd buzzed.

Again.

Heads lowered.

Screens lit up.

Another breaking alert.

This one far worse than the first.

NEXUS STOCK PLUNGES 38% IN SEVEN MINUTES

Gasps erupted.

People began shouting.

Traders called assistants.

Investors frantically opened market apps.

Billions of dollars were vanishing.

Instantly.

Chaos spread through the entrance.

Yet Julian remained perfectly calm.

Victoria stared at him.

“Did you do this?”

Julian looked at the collapsing market data.

Then at the hotel.

Then back at Victoria.

“No.”

For the first time all evening…

He looked genuinely concerned.

Which terrified her even more.

Because if Julian Cross hadn’t caused the collapse—

Someone else had.

Someone who knew he was coming.

Someone who wanted the entire financial system to burn.

And that someone was already inside the summit.

Waiting.

May you like
