Marco's security team, conducting a thorough search of Vanessa's personal quarters, uncovered additional evidence establishing the full, devastating scope of her calculated scheme.
"We found considerable documentation," Marco reported during his briefing, nearly two hours after Vanessa's initial detainment. "Financial records showing substantial payments from a rival organization, alongside detailed notes tracking your medication schedule and symptom progression."
"Which organization?" I demanded.
"The Castellano family," Marco confirmed. "Apparently they've been paying Vanessa considerably, promising even more substantial compensation once your death was properly confirmed and your organization's leadership structure destabilized."
I felt sick absorbing this devastating betrayal, understanding the woman I'd planned to marry in six weeks had been calculatedly poisoning me for months, motivated entirely by a rival family's considerable payment.
