Graham moved like a shadow—calls, confirmations, quiet authority that reshaped the entire household.

Mara sat in the corner of the living room, hands clasped tightly.

Adrian approached her again.

“Tell me the truth.”

She shook her head.

“You’ll lose your job,” she whispered.

“You might lose more than that if you don’t.”

Her eyes lifted slowly.

Fear.

Then something else.

Resolve.

“She changed his medication,” Mara said quietly. “Reduced doses. Skipped others.”

Adrian didn’t interrupt.

“She said it made him calmer… easier to manage.”

The words landed like glass breaking.

“And today?” Adrian asked.

Mara swallowed.

“He tried to get out of bed. He wanted to call someone. She got angry. The cup—”

Her voice faltered.

“She threw it?”

Mara nodded once.

“I always clean it up.”
