Part 3 — The Ending
No one spoke.
Victoria's knees finally gave way.
The police stepped forward.
She whispered,
"I only wanted the inheritance..."
Richard didn't answer.
He simply nodded once.
The officers placed handcuffs around Victoria's wrists and escorted her from the ballroom.
Not a single guest tried to stop them.
Richard slowly walked toward Emily.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Then the billionaire—the man feared by presidents and CEOs alike—knelt on the marble floor.
He looked at the little boy.
"I'm sorry."
Tears filled his eyes.
"I failed both of you."
The toddler looked up at Emily.
"Can Grandpa stay?"
Emily smiled through tears.
"If that's what you want."
The little boy reached out his tiny hand.
Richard took it carefully, as though holding something more valuable than every company he owned.
Six months later, the Ashcroft Foundation announced a new children's hospital named after Richard's late son.
Emily became its director of family services.
The little boy never again had to wonder where his mother was.
Every night, he fell asleep in her arms.
And every morning, the grandfather who almost lost him forever walked him to school.
Because in the end...
