Chapter 7 - An Empire of True Love

One year later.

The Bayside Heights mansion was no longer a monument of absence and greed. It had become a true home, radiating warmth, laughter, and genuine love. The cold, sterile parties of high-society phonies were replaced by weekend barbecues with our real friends, neighbors, and my construction crew guys.

I had successfully launched my own domestic contracting firm, using the recovered funds Marcus had clawed back from Prudence’s trading accounts. Business was booming, but I made one ironclad rule for myself: I was home every day by 5:00 PM. No exceptions.

I sat on a comfortable lawn chair on the brand-new cedar deck out back, watching the sunset paint the sky in brilliant shades of pink and gold. The old service kitchen was completely gone, replaced by a beautiful, thriving greenhouse where Sarah grew fresh lilies and organic vegetables.

Sarah walked out onto the deck, looking radiant, healthy, and full of life. Her hair was down, catching the warm evening breeze, and a beautiful gold bracelet gleamed on her wrist—the very same one I had brought back from my travels. She set a fresh glass of iced tea down next to me and slid into my lap, wrapping her arms around my neck.

"What are you thinking about, handsome?" she teased softly, kissing my cheek.

"Just thinking about how incredibly lucky I am," I smiled, holding her close.

Out on the lush green lawn, Jamie was running around with a golden retriever puppy we had adopted a few months ago. He looked strong, healthy, and full of endless energy, his laughter echoing across the yard as he kicked a soccer ball into a small net.

My mother and sister were currently serving their five-year sentences in a state correctional facility, completely cut off from the wealth they tried to steal. They had wanted the mansion for its status, but they never understood that a house is just empty stone without love inside it.

I looked back at my wife and my son, my heart bursting with a profound, unshakeable sense of peace. I had survived the dust, the steel, and the brutal heat of the desert. I had broken my back for five long years, but looking at the beautiful, safe empire of love we had built on the ashes of betrayal, I knew one thing with absolute certainty:
