Robert’s recording unit could be stopped only through Morgan Defense’s compliance server.

Veronica had revoked Caleb’s credentials and placed the server under Northstar’s transaction team. Owen still held temporary financial access, but using it would expose that he had helped Caleb and could trigger deletion.

“I already helped them once by staying quiet,” he said. “I am not doing it again.”

He entered his credentials.

The purge paused with eleven minutes remaining.

Robert appeared on the screen inside Archive 17. He described the false supplier invoices, Grant’s role in creating them, and a private account used to move company money into Northstar’s acquisition fund. He also named a board safeguard called the Service Covenant.

If any executive used fabricated military records, elder coercion, or conflicted financing to seize the company, the founder shares would transfer temporarily to an independent trust controlled by employees and veterans until a federal audit ended.

The recording was powerful, but incomplete. Robert had recorded it before identifying every account. The original ledgers were still required to trace the stolen money.

Then the compliance server went dark.

Veronica had ordered Northstar technicians to disconnect the headquarters data center. Archive 17 lost power before the recording finished copying. When emergency current returned, the black unit reset and the internal file appeared corrupted.

Only the first six minutes survived on Owen’s laptop.

Grant announced that Caleb had fabricated a dead man’s message with military editing software. Veronica released photographs of Caleb breaking the front door and claimed he had terrorized dinner guests while trying to steal company assets.

The public story began turning against him.

Worse, a federal judge allowed the shareholder vote to proceed because the surviving recording did not establish current fraud. Northstar argued that delaying the sale would end payroll and violate lender agreements.

Veronica entered the meeting believing she had won.

Evelyn remained at the hospital under guard. June remained in jail. Caleb’s military command suspended his security clearance pending review of the forged psychiatric material. Every document Veronica created now produced a real consequence.

Then a hospital nurse called Caleb.

Owen stared at his name.

“I did not approve that.”

The metadata showed the transaction occurred while he was speaking at a conference. A cloned token had been used, just as Caleb’s identity had been cloned.

Before prosecutors received the files, Grant filed an emergency privilege claim and persuaded estate security to seize the table as family legal property.

The transport van carrying it never reached the evidence facility. It was found abandoned beside the river, its rear doors open.
