Chapter 3: The Golden Debt

The heavy rear passenger door swung open, and an elegant woman stepped out onto the wet asphalt.

She was breathtakingly poised, dressed in a flawless, custom-tailored charcoal suit that radiated absolute power and immense wealth. Her sharp, authoritative features were framed by the dim glow of the streetlights. She carried an aura that demanded instant, unquestionable respect.

She ignored the pouring rain and walked directly up to my battered metal counter.

I instinctively shrank back, feeling completely intimidated. “I’m sorry, miss… I am closed. Forever.”

She didn’t look at the empty grill. She didn’t look at the packed boxes.

She looked directly into my exhausted, tear-filled eyes.

Slowly, she reached into her designer coat and placed a solid, heavy card made of pure, gleaming gold onto the stainless-steel surface.

“I came back to repay my debt,” she said, her voice smooth, yet carrying a profound, emotional weight.

I completely froze. My failing heart skipped a violent beat. I stared at her piercing, deep emerald eyes. Beneath the veneer of the billionaire executive, I instantly recognized the haunted, hungry gaze of the little girl I had fed twenty years ago.

“It’s you…” I gasped, my hands trembling violently.

“My name is Elara,” she smiled warmly, tears pooling in her fierce eyes. “And you are the only reason I survived the winter.”

But before I could even process the miraculous, impossible reality of her return, the opposite rear door of the luxury Maybach slowly clicked open.

And the atmosphere on the street shifted into something terrifyingly dangerous.
