Chapter 4: The Architect of Justice

Stepping out of the luxury car, completely drenched in the freezing rain, was a man I recognized instantly.
It was Marcus Sterling. The ruthless, arrogant developer who had ordered the destruction of my life.
But he didn’t look arrogant anymore.
He looked absolutely, utterly terrified. His expensive suit was wrinkled. His face was entirely drained of human color, pale as a ghost. He was trembling, not from the cold, but from sheer, unadulterated panic. He clutched a thick leather folder to his chest like a shield.
“Elara… what is he doing here?” I stammered, stepping back.
Elara’s warm expression instantly vaporized into a lethal, icy fury as she looked at the billionaire developer.
“Marcus thought he was untouchable,” Elara stated, her voice echoing like a judge’s gavel across the rainy street. “He bragged in a boardroom about how he was going to crush a worthless old street vendor today to build his new lobby.”
Elara stepped closer to me. “What Marcus didn’t know is that my private equity firm is the primary shareholder of his entire corporate empire.”
The horrifying realization slammed into Marcus. He looked like his soul had violently left his body.
“I didn’t know she was the one who saved you, Ms. Elara! I swear!” Marcus begged, his voice cracking into a pathetic, high-pitched squeal.

“Bring it here. NOW,” Elara commanded, pointing at the metal counter.
Marcus practically stumbled over his own expensive shoes. He placed the thick leather folder onto the counter and opened it with shaking fingers.
