Right there, shivering in the freezing rain, the corrupt billionaire signed over the legal property deeds to the entire city block. He legally transferred ownership of the very ground we stood on directly into my name.
“You are fired, Marcus. Your assets are frozen pending a federal investigation into your predatory lending practices,” Elara said coldly. “Walk home.”
Marcus dropped his pen and staggered away into the heavy rain, stripped of his power, his wealth, and his dignity.
Elara turned back to me, completely ignoring the rain soaking her expensive suit. She reached across the metal counter and pulled my weeping, exhausted body into a fierce, desperate embrace.
