Chapter 4 - The Contents Revealed

We made it to my car in the underground parking garage just as Detective Vance pulled in with three squad cars, sirens blaring. Marcus had vanished back into the shadows of the hospital, realizing the perimeter was too hot.
Vance found us huddled in the backseat of my SUV, Leo wrapped in my dry jacket.
"Are you out of your mind, Doc?" Vance yelled, her face pale. "He took down two of my best guys. You could have been killed!"
"He wants the boy, Sarah," I shot back. "He's terrified of what Leo knows."
Vance sighed heavily, running a hand through her wet hair. "He has a reason to be. The lab cracked the safe."
I froze. "What was inside?"
"Flash drives. Passports. And... biological samples," Vance said, her voice dropping to a harsh whisper. "Bone marrow vials. Blood types. They aren't running a foster agency, Doctor. They’re running an illegal organ harvesting ring for the black market. They use the foster system to find undocumented, unmissed kids. The blood on the keypad belonged to a twelve-year-old girl who went missing from Sunny Meadows three months ago."
I looked down at Leo. He was staring at us, his eyes wide and unblinking.
"Leo," I said gently, crouching down to his eye level. "Do you know where the other kids are?"
Leo swallowed hard, his tiny hands clutching the edge of my jacket. "The Farm," he whispered. "They take us to The Farm when we get... healthy."

"Where is The Farm, Leo?" Vance asked, leaning in.
"I don't know," Leo cried softly. "But there are silos. Big white silos. And it smells like the bag."
