Chapter 3 - The Conspiracy UnfoldsAn hour later, the private top-floor suite of the Solmere Hotel was sealed off. Julian had brought in a private medical team to tend to Charlotteās cuts and bruises while his legal team secured the building's digital surveillance network.

Sitting on a leather armchair, draped in a plush bathrobe, Charlotte looked at the documents spread across the glass coffee table. Julian stood nearby, delivering a detailed briefing on the internal situation of the company.
āYour motherās death six months ago was officially ruled as a heart attack,ā Julian explained, placing a thick folder in front of her. āBut the moment she passed, the boardāled by Victoriaās father, Arthur Sterlingāattempted to fast-track a restructuring clause. They claimed you were mentally unfit to inherit, citing forged psychiatric records.ā
Charlotte looked up, her eyes hard. āThey didnāt just forge records, Julian. They tried to eliminate me. Three weeks ago, the brake lines on my car were cut. Thatās why I went into hiding. Thatās why I let them believe I had fled the country in fear. I needed time to gather the hard evidence.ā
She pulled a encrypted flash drive from her pocket and placed it on the table.
āThis contains the transaction logs,ā Charlotte said. āArthur Sterling has been siphoning funds from the hotelās reserve accounts into offshore shell companies in the Caymans. He wasnāt just trying to take over the companyāheās been bankrupting it from the inside out to force a public buyout.ā
Julianās jaw tightened. āIf this gets out to the press before the annual shareholder meeting tomorrow, the stock will plummet.ā
āLet it plummet,ā Charlotte replied coldly. āBecause tomorrow, at nine in the morning, I am walking into that board meeting. Arthur Sterling thinks heās going to be named Permanent Chairman tomorrow. Instead, heās going to watch his entire lifeās work crumble.ā

Suddenly, the suite door opened, and Julianās assistant stepped in, looking pale. āMr. Vance, Miss Vale... we have a problem. Arthur Sterling has just called an emergency press conference in the main ballroom downstairs. Heās claiming that an impostor is posing as Charlotte Vale to extort the company, and heās called the local authorities to have Miss Vale arrested immediately.ā
Charlotte smiled faintly, standardizing her resolve. āHeās desperate. He knows Iām in the building. Good. Let him bring the police and the cameras. It saves me the trouble of inviting them.ā
