Chapter 4 - The Boardroom BattleThe grand ballroom on the third floor was packed with reporters, investors, and high-ranking shareholders. Flashes from cameras lit up the room as Arthur Sterling stood at the podium, looking immaculate in a tailor-made tuxedo. Beside him stood his daughter, Victoria, her cheek patched up with a subtle bandage, acting the role of a traumatized victim.

āLadies and gentlemen,ā Arthur began, his tone dripping with fake concern. āIt is with a heavy heart that I address the rumors circulating online today. An unstable individual assaulted my daughter in the lobby earlier today and attempted to claim the identity of our beloved late founderās daughter, Charlotte Vale. I assure you, the real Charlotte is currently receiving medical care abroad, and this impostor will face the full weight of the law.ā
Before the reporters could ask their questions, the heavy double doors at the back of the ballroom swung open.
The room fell quiet.
Walking down the center aisle was Charlotte. She was no longer wearing the simple tank top. She wore a tailored charcoal-black pantsuit, her long hair pulled back into a sleek ponytail. Beside her walked Julian Vance and four senior attorneys holding leather briefcases.
āIf I am an impostor, Mr. Sterling,ā Charlotteās voice echoed through the microphone system, āthen perhaps you can explain why my biometric signature unlocked the vault in the vault room fifteen minutes ago.ā
Arthurās face darkened, but he maintained his composure. āSecurity! Escort this trespasser out!ā
āDonāt touch her!ā Julian Vance stepped forward, pulling a court order from his jacket. āThis is a certified court injunction from the High Court, validating Miss Charlotte Valeās identity via DNA confirmation and official inheritance filings certified by the state supreme court.ā
The media erupted. Cameras flashed frantically as reporters pressed forward.
Charlotte reached the stage, stepping up to face Arthur directly. She didn't look at Victoria, who was shrinking back behind her father.
āArthur,ā Charlotte said calmly. āYou took advantage of my motherās failing health. You forged signatures, bribed board members, and tried to destroy my life. But you forgot one simple detail.ā

She took out a tablet and tapped the screen, displaying a series of financial records onto the giant presentation screen behind the podium.
āThese are the transfer receipts signed by your private digital key, transferring forty million dollars from the Solmere operational fund to an account under your daughterās name,ā Charlotte announced. āThe police arenāt here to arrest an impostor, Arthur. Theyāre here for you.ā
