Chapter 5: The Wedding Coordinator's Shock

The door swung open smoothly, revealing Mrs. Ben in her signature charcoal-gray tailored suit,
her clipboard clutched professionally against her chest. Her hair was pulled back into a severe,
elegant bun, and her expression was one of brisk efficiency. "Mary, dear, we are running twenty
minutes behind schedule for the photographs, and the florist is asking—" Mrs. Ben's voice cut off
abruptly as her practiced professional smile froze on her face.

Her sharp eyes swept across the room in a fraction of a second, taking in every sordid detail: the
discarded black suit jacket on the floor, the trembling groom in his half-buttoned shirt, and the
cowering woman hiding under the white duvet on the king-sized bed. Finally, her gaze landed on
Mary, standing radiant and terrifyingly composed in her pristine wedding gown. Mrs. Ben’s mouth
parted slightly, her clipboard slipping an inch down her grip as the crushing reality of the scene
registered in her experienced mind.
"Oh," Mrs. Ben breathed out, the professional veneer cracking instantly to reveal genuine shock. In
her ten years of coordinating elite high-society weddings, she had weathered bridezilla meltdowns,
missing catering trucks, and lost rings, but she had never walked into a disaster of this biblical
proportion minutes before the ceremony. Her eyes darted back to the groom, who looked as though
he wished the plush hotel carpet would open up and swallow him whole.
Mary stepped forward smoothly, her voice cutting through the stunned silence like a razor blade.
"Mrs. Ben, please cancel the florist. Tell the caterers to pack up the food for local shelters. And inform
our three hundred guests waiting in the grand pavilion that the wedding is officially canceled." Mrs.
Ben blinked, stunned by the cold authority in the young bride's voice. Without missing a beat, the

coordinator nodded once, her professional instincts overriding her shock. "Right away, Mary," she
murmured, turning on her heel to execute the dismantling of a half-million-dollar wedding.
