PART 16: THE PROXY REVERSAL

"I don't need a majority share, Daniel," I said, standing up to face him. "Because your proxies don't exist anymore."

Daniel’s confident smile flickered, a hint of doubt crossing his face. "What are you talking about? The proxy registry was finalized at 9:00 a.m. today."

I pulled a thin, white folder from my briefcase and handed it to him.

Inside was a certified copy of the corporate card logs from his firm's secondary account in Boston.

"Your business partner, Vanessa Vance, signed over the voting rights to the Bennett estate three hours ago," I said, watching the color drain from his face.

"Vanessa wouldn't do that," he stammered, his fingers shaking as he flipped through the pages.

"She did it because she found out you were using her maiden name to register the bad debts from the South Boston project," I explained, my voice deadly calm. "She didn't want to spend the next twenty years in a maximum-security compliance audit to protect your ambitious future."

Daniel took a panicked step backward, his polished dress shoes slipping slightly on the icy concrete path.

"The city council meeting tonight isn't a vote on your commercial parking garage," I added. "It's a formal hearing to dissolve your corporate charter for tax evasion."

Behind him, the school secretary stepped out onto the porch, ringing the afternoon dismissal bell.

The loud, metallic chime filled the clean winter air, cutting through the noise of his crumbling dynasty.
