The school secretary was typing smoothly inside the open office window nearby, the old smell of hot printer toner entirely replaced by the fresh, clean scent of the open garden air.
People like the Ashfords always believe that because they carry a polished folder, a loud opinion, and a half-million-dollar threat, they can command the room and dictate who gets punished.
