Chapter 14 – The New Generation

While Emma prepared for her academic future, the changing landscape of New York presented a different kind of challenge. A new wave of cyber-criminals and modern syndicates was emerging, operating not with guns on the docks, but with digital extortion and corporate sabotage.

One evening, Bruno entered the study, looking unusually exhausted. He laid a encrypted flash drive on Alejandro's desk.

"A modern syndicate calling themselves 'The Network' is targeting our foundation’s cloud databases, Boss," Bruno reported. "They're attempting to breach the private records of our pediatric patients to blackmail the board."

Alejandro’s eyes narrowed. "They think because we fight with medicine and charity, we no longer know how to fight."

"Should I activate the old contacts?" Bruno asked, a dangerous spark igniting in his eyes.

"No," a soft voice interrupted from the doorway.

Sarah walked into the room, holding a tablet. Over the last decade, she had transformed from a quiet housekeeper into one of the most formidable executives in the non-profit sector.

"We don't fight digital criminals with muscle, Bruno," Sarah said calmly, placing the tablet in front of Alejandro. "We use legal firepower and cyber-security infrastructure. I’ve already contacted the Federal Cyber Division and retained the top data-security firm in the country. By tomorrow morning, their entire operation will be frozen by court orders and federal warrants."

Alejandro looked from Sarah to Bruno, a rare, proud chuckle escaping his throat.

"Times have changed, Bruno," Alejandro said, leaning back in his chair. "Years ago, I would have sent fifty men to break their doors down. Today, my wife defeats them with a courtroom filing before breakfast."

Sarah smiled warmly, walking behind Alejandro and resting her hands on his shoulders. The Moretti family was no longer just a stronghold of force—it was an unshakeable institution.
