Chapter 16 – The Departure
The day of Emma’s departure for university arrived on a cool late-August morning.
The estate driveway was quiet. A sleek black SUV stood ready to take Emma to John F. Kennedy International Airport. Bruno had personally packed her luggage into the trunk, ensuring her apartment in London was guarded by the most elite, discreet security team money could buy.
On the front porch, Sarah hugged Emma tightly, tears spilling over her cheeks despite her bright smile.
"Call us the moment you land," Sarah smoothed Emma's coat collar. "And don't forget to eat properly."
"I won't, Mom," Emma promised, hugging her once more before turning to Alejandro.
Alejandro stood tall, wearing his dark wool coat. He looked down at the girl who had saved his soul. He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small, velvet box.
Emma opened it. Inside lay a delicate, custom-crafted platinum key, encrusted with a single small diamond.
"This key opens the doors to the European branch of the Kiara & Emma Foundation," Alejandro said, his voice deep and thick with affection. "It is officially registered in your name. Wherever you go, Emma, you carry our trust, our love, and our legacy with you."

Emma’s eyes filled with tears. She threw her arms around his neck, hugging him with all the strength she possessed. "I'll make you proud, Uncle Alejandro."
"You already have, little bunny," Alejandro murmured, kissing her forehead. "You always have."
