Chapter 3

The Secret Medical File

The lead agent, a stern man named Officer Vance, stopped directly in front of Eleanor. "Eleanor Vance? We have a federal warrant authorized by the District Attorney’s office to seize all medical records from the Vance Private Clinic dating back to October 2021."

Eleanor’s breath caught in her throat. "On what grounds? This is a blatant violation of corporate privacy!"

"On the grounds of human trafficking, medical forgery, and kidnapping," Officer Vance replied coldly.

Clara stepped forward, pulling a crumpled, yellowed document from her small handbag. It was a copy of the original birth log from the night Leo was born—a log that Eleanor’s corrupt doctors had tried to incinerate. It listed Clara as the biological mother, with a handwritten note in the margin signed by Dr. Harrison, Eleanor’s personal physician, reading: Patient informed of infant mortality. Infant transferred to private transport per EV’s instructions.

"Dr. Harrison confessed an hour ago, Eleanor," Clara said, her eyes flashing with a cold triumph. "He knew the FBI was closing in on his medical license. He gave them the encrypted keys to your private server."

The guests began to back away from Eleanor as if she were infected. Her closest friends, women who had dined at her penthouse just yesterday, turned their backs, whispering frantically behind their silk shawls.

"Julian, get us out of here," Arthur muttered to the journalist, guiding Clara and the crying little boy toward the private service elevator before the media could engulf them.

As the elevator doors slid shut, the last thing Clara saw was Eleanor standing entirely alone in the center of the massive, ruined ballroom, surrounded by the debris of her own shattered empire.
