Chapter 9: Into the Maw

Mount Shasta loomed in the distance, its peaks hidden by storm clouds. The Syndicate’s bunker was carved directly

into the granite, disguised as an abandoned geothermal plant.

Jack left Lily in a concealed sniper blind a half-mile out, armed with a flare gun and a thermal blanket. "Do not

move until I come back," he ordered, his tone leaving no room for argument.

He approached the perimeter as night fell. Rain masked his thermal signature. Two guards patrolled the chain-link

fence, assault rifles slung lazily. Jack emerged from the shadows like a wraith. A quick snap of a neck, a muffled

gasp, and both men were in the dirt before they could touch their radios.

He bypassed the electronic gate using the EMP charge from Arthur's cache, slipping into the concrete ventilation

shaft. The bunker's interior was a stark contrast to the rugged wilderness—gleaming white corridors, sterile

laboratories, and armed mercenaries at every checkpoint.

Jack moved through the ceiling crawlspaces, mapping the layout. He needed to find the central server room. He

needed to find Evelyn Vance. And most importantly, he needed to make sure Victoria never saw the light of day

again.
