Chapter 30 - Infinite Light
A decade after the nightmare that almost ended her life, Emma Parker stood on the high timber deck of her Boulder home as a vibrant autumn sunset blazed across the Rocky Mountain sky.
Below, the valley was a sea of fiery reds, deep ambers, and shimmering golds. The mountain air was crisp, clean, and filled with the scent of pine and wild autumn rain.
Inside the sunroom, Martha sat comfortably in her favorite chair, reading a book while Ethan—now a brilliant, confident thirteen-year-old—showed her a 3D digital model of a sustainable mountain cabin he had designed himself. Martha’s laughter, rich and full of affection, drifted out through the open glass door.
Emma leaned against the wooden railing, holding a warm cup of tea, taking in the scene before her.
There was no legal battle left to fight. No ghost left to fear. No debt left unpaid. The cruelty and cowardice of a man who had tried to destroy them had been completely swallowed up by a ocean of purpose, love, and undeniable success.
Emma looked up at the snow-capped peaks glittering under the final, golden rays of the sun. Her life was her own. Her son was safe, thriving, and boundless with promise. Her community was strong, and her heart was whole.
She had walked through the deepest valley of darkness, and she had built a mountain of her own.
