Chapter 52 - The Leverage

We returned to the diner as the sun began to rise, holding a silver flash drive that contained the absolute destruction of Victor Holloway.
Arthur plugged it into his encrypted laptop, his fingers flying across the keyboard. Hannah stood behind him, holding Maya, watching the screen as the files decrypted.
"This is incredible," Arthur breathed, his eyes wide with shock. "Victor didn't just use the trust to buy the diner. He’s been systematically embezzling from the primary family trust to fund illegal arms manufacturing in Eastern Europe. The trust isn't a sovereign entity; it’s a massive, international money-laundering front."
"And the custody clause?" Hannah asked sharply.
"It’s a shield," Arthur realized, pulling up a specific legal document. "The trust requires a minor heir to act as the legal beneficiary to avoid international tax scrutiny. Victor doesn't want Maya because he cares about the bloodline. He wants Maya so he can put her name on the fraudulent accounts. He needs her to be the fall guy if the feds ever raid the trust."
A wave of absolute, sickening revulsion washed over me. He wanted to use a six-month-old baby as a human shield for international crimes.
"He crossed the line," I said, pulling my coat back on. "Print the ledgers, Arthur. Every single page. It's time to end this."

"Where are you going?" David asked, stepping forward, his face bruised but resolute.
"I’m going to Victor’s corporate headquarters," I said, my eyes cold and dead. "I’m going to deliver his eviction notice."
