Chapter 54 - The Desperate Strike

Victor’s eyes darted frantically around the room. The polished, sophisticated international businessman completely dissolved, leaving only a desperate, cornered rat.
"Restrain her!" Victor screamed at his guards. "Get her phone! Stop the upload!"
One of the massive men lunged at me.
But I had not walked into the viper's den unprepared. I reached into my coat pocket and pulled out a high-voltage military-grade stun gun, driving it directly into the guard's chest before he could even grab my arm.
The crackle of electricity filled the room, and the three-hundred-pound man collapsed to the floor, convulsing violently.
The second guard froze, looking at me with wide eyes, realizing that I was not a helpless victim. I was a woman who had survived a monster, and I was entirely prepared to kill to protect my family.
"Back off," I ordered the second guard, leveling the sparking weapon at him. He raised his hands and slowly backed against the wall.
I turned my attention back to Victor, who was now trembling behind his desk.
"You thought I was weak because I chose to bake cinnamon rolls and serve coffee," I said, walking slowly around the desk until I stood directly over him. "You thought my peace was a sign of fragility. You were wrong. My peace is a choice. A choice I make every single day so I don't become the monster you are."

I reached out, grabbed Victor by the lapels of his expensive suit, and slammed him back against the floor-to-ceiling glass window.
"You are going to sign the property deed for Elm Street over to Hannah," I whispered lethally. "You are going to legally dissolve the Holloway Family Trust. And then you are going to get on your private jet and leave this country forever. Because if I ever see your face, or hear your name again, I will release the ledgers."
