Chapter 13: Cornered
Lydia shoved past the guards, pure adrenaline fueling her escape. She bolted out of the bank doors, nearly getting hit by a passing taxi. Grant stepped out from an alleyway, blocking her path.
"Looking for this?" Grant asked, holding up the real key.
Lydia’s facade crumbled completely. The sweet, loving woman he thought he knew vanished, replaced by a feral, desperate stranger. "Give it to me, Grant! You don't understand, they're going to kill me!" she screamed, lunging at him.
