Chapter 27 - The Transformation|

The safehouse was a brutalist concrete fortress hidden in the mountains. Once inside, Chloe was sedated and put to rest in a secure bedroom, while their mother was locked in a basement interrogation room.
Natalie stood in the master bathroom, staring at her reflection in the harsh fluorescent light. The sweet, dependable Natalie in the floral blouse looked pathetic to her now. That woman was a victim. She grabbed a pair of scissors and began chopping off her long, soft hair, cutting it into a sharp, ruthless bob.
Silas had provided a wardrobe for her. She stepped out of the bathroom wearing a tailored, crimson power suit that fit her like armor. When she walked into the command center, Silas and Ethan both paused, staring at her transformation.
“Marcus Sterling is hosting his annual billionaire charity gala tomorrow night at the Grand Hotel,” Silas announced, pointing to a digital map on the wall screen. “It’s highly secure. Private army.”
“Then we crash it,” Natalie said, her voice devoid of any hesitation. “He wants the key? I’ll hand-deliver a message instead.”
“It’s a suicide mission, Natalie,” Ethan argued, stepping into her personal space. “You can't just walk into the lion’s den. Let my tactical team handle Marcus.”
“You don't have a team anymore, Ethan. You answer to me,” she glared up at him, her eyes icy. “Marcus Sterling funded the hit on my father. He ordered the attack on my sister today. I am going to walk into that gala, and I am going to destroy him in front of the entire financial world.”

“How?” Silas asked, an impressed smirk playing on his lips.
“Because before we left the vault,” Natalie said, tossing a USB drive onto the table, “I downloaded the ledger. I know exactly which politicians are keeping Sterling out of prison. Tomorrow, I buy them out.”
