Chapter 33 - The Hostile Takeover|

Natalie didn't wait for Ethan to wake up. She couldn't afford to. She spent the next forty-eight hours locked in the clinic's war room with Silas and his top hackers.

“Victor’s criminal empire is untraceable,” Silas explained, pointing to a complex web of shell companies on the monitor. “But his pride and joy is Thorne Global, a legitimate multi-billion dollar hedge fund. He uses it to wash the dirty money. He is the CEO and majority shareholder.”

“How much of the company does he own?” Natalie asked, sipping her sixth cup of coffee.

“Forty-nine percent,” Silas replied. “The other fifty-one percent was controlled by silent proxy investors. But Victor has been ruthlessly buying them out or intimidating them.”

Natalie smirked, pulling out the laptop she had taken from the vault. “He didn't intimidate all of them. My adoptive father, Arthur, was the architect of Thorne Global. I found the proxy bearer shares in his hidden ledger. Arthur owned exactly fifty-one percent of Thorne Global. And as his sole legal heir... I own it now.”

Silas’s eyes widened in realization. “You want to take his company from the inside.”

“I want to publicly execute his legacy,” Natalie corrected him. “When is the next board meeting?”

“Tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM. Victor is announcing a massive merger that will cement his power in the legitimate world forever.”

“Perfect,” Natalie stood up, smoothing out her crimson suit. The bloodstains from Ethan had been cleaned, but she felt as though she were still wearing them. “Get the tactical team ready. We are crashing the board meeting. I’m going to look my biological father in the eye and take everything he loves.”

As she walked out, a nurse approached her. “Miss Vance? Ethan is awake.”
