Chapter 35 - The Boardroom Coup|

The boardroom of Thorne Global was a cavernous space of glass and mahogany, overlooking the entire city. At the head of the massive table stood Victor Thorne. He was an older, terrifyingly charismatic man, with silver hair, sharp features, and a jagged scar running along his jawline. He was in the middle of a speech to the board of directors.

“With this merger, Thorne Global will become untouchable,” Victor projected, his voice oozing power.

“I veto the merger,” Natalie announced, her voice slicing through the room like a blade.

Every head turned. Victor stopped speaking, his dark eyes locking onto Natalie. For a fraction of a second, surprise flashed across his face, followed quickly by a twisted, proud smirk.

“Well, well,” Victor purred, leaning forward on the table. “Security seems to be slacking. Or perhaps they just recognized the resemblance. Hello, Daughter.”

The board members gasped, whispering frantically among themselves.

“I am not your daughter,” Natalie walked slowly toward the table, Silas and his men securing the exits. “I am Arthur Vance’s heir. And I am the majority shareholder of this company.”

She tossed a thick legal binder onto the center of the table.

“These are the authenticated bearer shares and the legal proxy transfers,” Natalie addressed the shocked board members. “As of this moment, I own fifty-one percent of Thorne Global. And my first act as majority shareholder is to immediately terminate Victor Thorne as CEO, pending an FBI investigation into corporate fraud and racketeering.”

Victor laughed, a booming, arrogant sound that sent chills down Natalie’s spine.

“You think a piece of paper can defeat me in my own house?” Victor sneered, stepping away from the table. “You are naive, Natalie. Did you really think I wouldn't have a backup plan?” He pulled a remote detonator from his pocket.
