Chapter 34 - The Mastermind Revealed|

Natalie rushed into the recovery room. Ethan was pale, hooked up to a dozen monitors, with heavy bandages wrapped around his torso. But when he saw her, a weak, relieved smile crossed his face.
“You look like you're about to murder someone,” Ethan rasped, his voice rough.
“I am,” she walked to the side of his bed and gently took his hand. “I’m going after Victor. Tomorrow morning. I have the proxy shares, Ethan. I’m taking his company, and then I’m turning his criminal ledger over to the FBI.”
Ethan squeezed her hand, though he grimaced in pain. “He won't go down without a fight, Nat. He is a cornered animal. He will use whatever leverage he can find.”
“He has no leverage left,” Natalie said confidently. “Chloe is safe in the bunker. My mother is locked away. You are heavily guarded here. He has nothing.”
“Just promise me you’ll come back,” Ethan whispered, his eyes heavy with medication. “We still have a wedding to plan, remember?”
A genuine, soft smile broke through her hardened exterior for the first time in days. “I promise. I love you, Ethan.”
“I love you too. Go give them hell.”
The next morning, the sky over the city was overcast and gray. Natalie walked into the towering glass skyscraper of Thorne Global, flanked by Silas and twenty heavily armed men in sharp suits. The security guards in the lobby took one look at Silas’s tactical team and the icy determination on Natalie’s face, and they stepped aside.

They stepped into the private executive elevator. As the numbers ticked up to the 80th floor, Natalie felt a strange sense of calm. She was no longer a victim of her past. She was the architect of her future.
The elevator chimed. The doors opened to the boardroom.
